As we have just come into the wonderful season which is Autumn I have noticed that all of the clothing stores have just begun to stock up on their Autumn ranges. I for one am a fully pledged lover of the Autumnal season and all it has to offer, the cold weather, the comfort food, Halloween, my birthday *cough* and of course the fashion. Who doesn’t love an oversized jumper and a blanket scarf?
I notice in my self that my style is forever changing and I always struggle to find clothes that are fashionable but also warm. So this is why this year I went in with a game plan and decided to create a wish list before good old England decides to hit us with blistering cold weather 2 months early.
The first two items I saw were from Pull&Bear, one of my personal favourites.
In autumn all I want is to look nice but be warm and when I saw this little ensemble I almost pressed buy, then I realised how poor I am and stopped myself. But the Dogtooth print dungaree dress could be such a staple piece in any wardrobe as it could be worn with practically any coloured jumper. As its autumn I decided I would be daring and pair it with some colour, and shock yellow again such a staple piece with it being so bold but I feel the little pop of colour under a monochrome dress will just pull the whole outfit together and then I would finish it off with a thick pair of tights, some black boots (preferably doc martens), a scarf and a warm coat.
The next staple to ant autumnal wardrobe is a pair of mom jeans and I found this pair from trustworthy Topshop.
I live in mom jeans whatever season but these bad boys are the next on my buying list. The dark wash and the distressing details on the knee and leg just scream autumn to me. Paired with a thick woolly jumper, a scarf, a long duster coat and again some doc martens and you’re good to go. Mom jeans are just such a staple piece in my wardrobe purely for their versatility and the ones from Topshop fit perfectly and they are also much more comfier than skinny jeans.
Another pair of pants that I feel are all the rage at the moment are pin stripped trousers.
This pair of navy and white pinstriped trousers that I found again from Pull&Bear just look to be the perfect pair. As a, taller than the average, human being I struggle to find trousers that fit in all the right places but from the pictures on the model these look like they’re going to do just that. Again paired with a thick woolly jumper, a scarf, a duster coat and you guessed it doc martens would make for such a stylish yet practical outfit over the autumnal months and again they would be so versatile.
Something which I find hard to do in the colder months is find clothes to wear on nights out, you either end up wearing the same stuff you did during summer and getting hypothermia or you wear a jacket which covers up you’re outfit anyway.
Which is why when I find this next piece it just screamed nights out to me.
This long sleeved stripped shirt again from Pull&Bear is something I felt I could pair with skinny jeans and some statement jewellery for a night out as the tie top detail in the front makes it more “dressy” than just your average stripped shirt. But also I again thought it was another versatile piece as if it was a little warmer one day you could maybe pair this with a pair of mom jeans and a cardigan and wear it during the day as a pulled together yet simple outfit.
Now, remember that long duster coat I keep rambling on about, well Topshop do some of the best coats that look and feel super expensive for not an extortionate amount of money.
The light orangey brown colour isn’t one I would go to on an everyday basis but I feel in coats its a colour which works quite well as it can add a pop of colour to a monochrome outfit but it also wouldn’t clash with an outfit which entailed a little more colour. I feel long duster coats look good with so many outfits they are just an obvious staple.
Now the last two items which I have found in my trail for a new wardrobe were again staples but also ones which I would probably wear every day.
The Infamous Doc Martens which I have mentioned in practically every outfit so far are a pair of shoes which I already wear on a daily basis , I own 3 pairs already but I mean one more can’t help can it, they are different I swear. This particular pair are a little shorter than the usual Doc Marten boots and I like this style A) because I don’t own a shorter pair B) because I feel they would look better with the new trouser rage that is going on sat the moment and would sit better when wearing jeans.
The Metallic blue tote bag is another gem I found on Pull&Bear. As a uni student tote bags are a personal favourite as they are easy to get things in and out of and they also always look good with whatever you are wearing. When I saw this metallic blue tote I just had to add it to my wish list as I feel it would look good all though autumn and winter and it would be a bag I could just designate to university and when I’m rushing out of the door in the morning I could just grab it and if my outfit was lacking at least my bag was amazing.
ciao for now, xo
